My Experience With JPMA

Afia Zafar - Department of Pathology Microbiology, Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi.

I have been associated with Journal of Pakistan Medical Association (JPMA) for more than eight years and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of serving on the editorial board.  It is the oldest medical scientific indexed journal of Pakistan, providing an important service to our scholar community. As we all know that science cannot progress without publication and dissemination of information in a systemic way. JPMA is offering an important professional venue to publish original works of and to researchers.
I have reviewed numerous articles for the journal; this provided me the opportunity to review recent research work conducted in this region.  I have also published several papers in JPMA. For all papers to be published, a blind peer-review process is required. I found that the journal\\\'s reviewing and publishing processes are of the highest standard and are comparable with any peer reviewed and reputable medical journal of this region.
Infrastructure for research and training are lacking in most medical institutes of Pakistan, therefore some of the papers received are of very low standing; the journal provides detailed feed back to authors in case of rejection. These comments help in improvement of any individual manuscript.
Historically, JPMA provided enormous support to medical scientific committees of this region in their academic growth and promotion by publishing their original works, as for a very long time it remained the only indexed journal in Pakistan. I am proud to be among those selected as member of editorial board and my experience has been extremely useful and positive.
On completion of its 60th birthday, I congratulate the editor and her team for their consistent tireless effort and determination that despite the current uncertain environment in the country, they are regularly publishing without any compromise, and the journal is, no doubt, flourishing.

Journal of the Pakistan Medical Association has agreed to receive and publish manuscripts in accordance with the principles of the following committees:
